VALLEY WOMEN'S BUSINESS NETWORK

Our Mission Statement

Our mission is to support, educate and promote women in business.

You may reach our Membership & Welcoming Committee by contacting Jean Loomer & or Karen Harrison. You may also contact our President Pam Murray  with any questions.

There are thousands of organizations, each with a specific purpose or goal. There are so many reasons why one should consider becoming part of an organization she believes in.  With this web site, we hope to get our message out to a larger audience of women interested in similar issues.

Who We Are, and What we Do

Regular meetings:
We have had some great topics and speakers over this past year and we are already working on the 2010 topics. At our member only events we poll our members looking for their input for future topics and speakers that are relevant to you. We try to bring in topical speakers; members and non-members, that can help us in some way, either professionally or personally and we work within budgets that are set by the executive yearly. Our meetings are the 2nd Wednesday of every month, excluding July and August. Check the VWBN.ca website regularly for meeting locations since we move around a bit.

Spring Retreat:
We had our first ever VWBN Members Only retreat in the Spring at the Mersey River Chalets. We had 10 members participate and it was a great relaxing get away. It was a great weekend and I hope we can repeat it in 2010.

October Event:
Well the final numbers have been tallied and the bills paid and monies received. We are happy to report that we raised $1670.00 at our October event and we will be providing 3 - $500 bursaries to graduating women from NSCC’s business program.

This annual event has taken many forms over the years with hard work, learning curves, fun and great relationships built between committee members. It is a pleasure to work with each of you and your contribution and commitment is appreciated, especially by the recipients of these bursaries. These deserving ladies receive these bursaries at a time when they are leaving the academic world and moving into the business world. Some may be employees; some may have the entrepreneurial calling and become employers. It gives us great satisfaction to be able to provide a financial bonus to help them start their journey knowing that there is a network of women in business out there that wants to help them succeed.
